NRMLA has learned that IBIS Software Founder and CEO Jerry Wagner passed away last month.

Jerry was a technology pioneer when the reverse mortgage business was in its infancy. In 1995, he founded IBIS, which licensed online software products, including the Reverse Mortgage Analyst (RMA), Reverse Mortgage Quick Quote (QQ) and Reverse Mortgage Originator (RMO), the first non-HUD software to propose and disclose HECMs.

IBIS’ reverse mortgage calculator was used on NRMLA’s consumer site and by HUD-approved HECM counselors for many years.

  • He also founded NETirement.com, Inc., which offered wealth management software.

Prior to getting into the reverse mortgage business, Jerry was the chief operating officer of San Diego Financial Corporation, the largest bank holding company in San Diego.

  • He was also an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he taught graduate-level portfolio theory and undergrad business finance.
  • Wagner received a PhD and master’s in business economics from Harvard Business Schools with concentrations in Investments and Corporate Finance.

RIP.
